2012 Hurricane Conference recognizes generator manufacturer’s unwavering pursuit to prepare the public for hurricanes

KOHLER, Wis. – March 27, 2012 – Kohler® Power Systems, a premium manufacturer and marketer of world-class generators and automatic transfer switches, received today the Outstanding Achievement Award in Public Awareness from the 2012 National Hurricane Conference in recognition of Kohler’s continued commitment to building public awareness about hurricane preparedness. The conference is currently being held at the Hilton Orlando in Florida, March 27-29.

“Kohler Generators is honored to accept this award for supporting the cause of hurricane preparedness,” said Melanie Tydrich, senior channel manager of residential generator products. “Whether we are working with retired Lt. General Russel Honoré, Commander of Joint Task Force Katrina and a global preparedness expert, or our alliance with FLASH, Kohler Generators is devoted to preparing the country for hurricanes, storms and power outages.”

One of the initiatives Kohler Generators undertook to increase public awareness about hurricane awareness is continued support of the Federal Alliance of Safe Homes (FLASH). Kohler is a three-year sponsor of The Great Hurricane Blowout, organized by FLASH, that serves as an awareness and educational campaign to prepare families and communities for hurricane season. “Our alliance with Kohler Generators is a natural fit for the hurricane preparedness message,” said Leslie Chapman-Henderson, President and CEO of FLASH. “The Generator Sweepstakes and the Dine in the Dark promotions greatly helped spread the word about preparedness during the campaign.”

Kohler Generators hosted retired Lt. General Russel Honoré at the 2011 Hurricane Conference to discuss the lessons learned as the Commander of Joint Task Force Katrina and the importance of backup power to preparedness. His story has been shared with visitors to the conference and the Kohler Generators website.

In 2011, Kohler Generators hosted a national satellite media tour with spokesperson Ed De Grande, home improvement expert, to share tips with regional audiences the three essentials for hurricane preparedness; an emergency supply kit, a family plan and standby power.

Royse City, Texas. Texas based Data Center Design & Build company earns major national certification that can help the business continue to grow.

Alcatex, a business specializing in Data Center design and implementation, has received national certification as a Women’s Business Enterprise by the Women’s Business Council Southwest, a regional certifying partner of the Women’s Business Enterprise National Council (WBENC).

Receiving the WBENC national standard of certification is no easy task. Implemented by the Women’s Business Council Southwest, the screening process is meticulous and in depth. The process includes both an in-depth review of the business as well as an onsite inspection. WBENC is checking to confirm that the business is owned, operated and controlled by a woman or women at a minimum level of 51%. Once certification is obtained it is maintained by the business for a period of one year. When the certification expires, the business must reapply and undergo the same stringent screening process again in order to be granted re-certification status.

Gaining national certification comes with several benefits for Alcatex. As a certified WBENC member, Alcatex is now able to retain additional business promotion, advocacy on business issues specific to women’s businesses, national recognition, access to lists of diversity and procurement executives across the United States and the opportunity for further career development. Development opportunities include webinars, scholarships and the opportunity to attend the Tuck School of Business at Dartmouth University.

Alcatex has been building data centers from the ground up since 1995. Based in Texas but serving several states across the United States. The company designs, builds and maintains the data center to each individual client’s specific needs and specifications. Alcatex also offers data center refurbishing, data migration and data center engineering.

Alcatex has an “A-List” track record of clients including T-Mobile, CompUSA, Waste Management, The Coca-Cola Company and Farmer’s Insurance Group.

To learn more about Alcatex, please visit www.Alcatexdatacenterdesign.com.

The Women’s Business Enterprise National Council is the nation’s largest third party certifier of businesses owned and operated by women in the United States. WBENC is a resource for the more than 700 US companies and government agencies that rely on WBENC’s certification as an integral part of their supplier diversity programs.

Alcatex, Inc. was recently selected as an equipment provider of the new Parkland Hospital Central Utility Plant (CUP) on the Parkland Hospital campus in Dallas,Texas. Construction on the plant began in July of 2011 and is estimated to be able to provide utility service to the hospital by December, 2012. Alcatex will be providing high quality, efficient equipment to support Parkland Hospital’s focus on efficient energy management.

The Parkland Hospital construction project was started earlier this year with a goal of being fully occupied with patients by the year 2014. The Parkland Hospital system has been known as one of the best hospitals in America for more than decade; the construction for the new site is one of the largest health-care projects in the history of the state.

The main role for Parkland Hospital Central Utility Plant is to provide a diversified and efficient approach to managing crucial utility expenses; focused on minimizing costs and maximizing savings options. Parkland is also building this new Central Utility Plant as a measure to safeguard the hospital and patients against potentially long power outages caused by natural disasters or other unexpected occurrences. Providing reliable back-up power in times of emergency to the new projected 17 story Parkland Hospital is imperative.

Alcatex, Inc. will provide an array of equipment that will support the Central Utility Plant. This portion of the project was awarded through the Texas Historically Underutilized Business (HUB) Program. Alcatex is a HUB certified, woman-owned business. Alcatex’s impressive client list serviced in the past ten years is a clear indicator of the company’s value in the industry. Major insurance providers, police stations, cities, colleges, government agencies, hospitals and corporations rely on Alcatex. Parkland Hospital will be joining Coca Cola, T-Mobile, Micron Technologies, Farmers Insurance and Baylor Medical Center as one of their more notable clients.
